Location: The normal place of work is one of the EIS main sites (London, Bisham Abbey, Bath, Loughborough, Lilleshall, Manchester), however this role will require a significant amount of travel within the UK.

Salary: £28,413 – £32,165

A central team within the EIS, we operate across the UK, providing data science support to all British Olympic and Paralympic teams, working directly with Performance Directors, Coaches and Sport Science and Medicine staff.

As one of our Sport Intelligence Consultants, you are a ‘front line’ member of the team, working with performance leaders, coaches and sport science and medicine practitioners, to support them on their data journey, blending their performance knowledge with your data science expertise. Drawing on the skills of the rest of your team, you will equip performance staff with new knowledge and user-friendly tools, empowering them to make better decisions that impact athlete performance.

You must be an exceptional communicator, who is comfortable learning quickly and able to think flexibly when faced with new problems and challenges. Your ability to rapidly form both professional and personal relationships with your colleagues and performance staff will be critical to success.

Main tasks and activities:
• Facilitate Olympic and Paralympic Programmes to map their ‘data landscape’ and identify opportunities and challenges by working closely with performance leaders and staff across the high-performance sport system • Work with front-line data users, such as sport science practitioners, to develop and implement solutions to optimise and/or automate existing data capture, storage, analysis, or visualisation workflows using tools and technologies that are appropriate for the skills and capabilities for the end user to take on • Present data products effectively to a range of audiences with various learning styles • Support the development and delivery of knowledge building initiatives, aimed at upskilling data users within sports in their ability to use and manage data • Manage projects in line with the Sport Intelligence project processes • Create stories to demonstrate the value delivered by projects • Work closely with the other members of the Sport Intelligence Team to share knowledge, keep design principles aligned, and increase team collaboration • Identify opportunities for sharing data solutions and processes across the UK High Performance System • Communicate credibly with a wide range of technical delivery disciplines, external data science product / service suppliers, and to elite sport domain specialists across the UK High Performance Sport System
